Your Digital Camera Is a Money Maker
Posted in Home Improvement + More, The Virtual Lifestyle on February 3rd, 2012First, I could not think about a method to market or sell those photographs but then I discovered micro stock sites. Micro stock sites are good : You register ( it is free ) and then upload one or two sample photographs. Let’s look how this works in detail : Stock photography What’s stock photography? Imagine somebody is making a site about medical care.
To meat it up they would like a few pictures of doctors, nurses, operating theaters and similar. Instead of engaging a shutter-bug ( sending him on ‘assignment’ as it’s called in the business ) which can sometimes be really pricey the designer makes a decision to use stock photographs, i.e. Photographs that are freely available.
Often stock photographs are much less expensive than ‘bespoke’ pictures. So our designer would visit one of the established stock image sites and read around a little till she finds some nice health-care related images.
After paying up ( customarily at the tone of $100 per image or higher dependent on the use ) she downloads the stills, puts them on the site and calls it a day. Conventional agencies With a standard agency our designer likely spent between $500 and $1,000 for six pictures of doctors, nurses and stuff like this.
That is little change if you’re a Fortune 5 hundred company, but what if you’re on a low budget or doing web design for a mate or a charitable organization? Enter micro stock agencies. Micro stock sites have caused the normal market for stock photography over the past 3 years. What is the concept here? Instead of charging $100 or even more for a photograph, on many of these sites it’s easy to get prime quality photographs for slightly less than $10, infrequently as low as $1! With a payout of maybe twenty-five to fifty cents per image this isn’t extremely fascinating for pro photographers but a non-professional can make decent cash this way and should at least be well placed to finance her pastime. Twenty-five cents per image downloaded might not actually sound like much but if you have one or two hundred or maybe even a thousand decent and serviceable photographs, each one of them submitted to the enormous micro stock sites even a paltry twenty-five cents per download can add up pleasantly. What you want Most micro stock agencies have the same wants : You will need at least a 4 Megapixel camera ( more is better, though you will be fine with between 6 and 8 Million pixels ), your pictures should be freed from noise, correctly keyworded and should picture requested subjects. As an example, good selling photographs are business or health care related or illustrate an idea or an emotion like love, relations, carreer and such like.
