Eat More Fruit for a Longer Life
Posted in Better Health, Food Center, Web Of Nutrition Resources on August 1st, 2010Fruit is the all around healthiest “fast food”. Fruit involves no preparation besides washing and perhaps peeling. You can stash a piece of washed fruit in your bag in the morning and it’s there for you any time later in the day. It will encourage you to avert the snack machine and enjoy a piece of fruit. I’ve been assembling a few reasons why fruit is good as a snack:
Fresh fruit boasts 0% bad fat and 0% cholesterol.
Fresh fruits (not dried or canned or cooked) contain a lot of water, which makes them a nutritious and delicious source of your daily water requirements.
Fruit is a brain food. Research has found that fruit enhances memory and increases neuro activity in your brain.
Fruit is a tremendous source of dietary fiber, which not only fights digestive ailments and colon cancer, but also helps prevent heart disease. The total amount of dietary fiber we should eat each day is roughly equivalent to five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables a day.
Fruit is superb for weight loss.
Fruits carry a a wide spectrum of phytonutrients, which furnish many health benefits.
Fresh fruits are cleansing for the body. Every complete detoxification program includes fresh fruit. Citrus is especially purifying. One of the most popular body detox diets is the lemon detox. I do one 4 times a year and I highly recommend it.
