Caring Souls Realize Having Great Expectations Is Important for Relationships

Posted in Advice, Finding Friends Online, Self Improvement Stuff on May 22nd, 2009

For one, You couldn’t describe me as downright satisfied as an “independent” (aka: naturally single) person and be 100% truthful. But, I’m not unhappy with the reality of life, either. I just mention it in this blog as an intriguing personal tidbit foreshadowing what I am about to reveal to you

Last Monday yours truly met for coffee with Corey, pondering about joining Dallas Personals site. Now, I sit to each of you as a fully satisfied member of the singles network. No kidding, I am. Its very comfortable and full of nice people! If you know me at all, perhaps you’re thinkin’, “You got some ’splainin to do, Lucy!”

So, I noticed this Great Expectations Dating site and liked what I saw. They’re for the serious singles who think dating should mean something.

Quite frankly, I’d never been too big on the ridiculous nightlife ritual a lot of singles have named “The Dating Game.” I faced it more than anyone should. Every night friends nagg, “You’re still single? ” and “Oh I know just the guy for you!”

“That’s rubbish,” I reply, without missing a beat. “Take a look around, I’m not missing much.”

“You’re as ridiculous as you are hilarious,” they say. “How would you know, you haven’t seen Friday Night Magic in a year!”

Thankfully, that’s my friend (she’s the best) hah! Stacey Feldman. She beams the best ideas to my brain 99% of the time. Caring souls you can trust for fresh advice. She made a good point, and I thank her for it.

Returning to the message of this post. As I browsed from more than three hundred outfits (hah) and desirable, honest singles for my first singles event with Great Expectations, a revelation hit me deep. For years, I hadn’t held any emotional great expectations for dating in the adventurous winding course of this world. Single life has its perks, only if you use the freedom to date. Having great expectations does wonders for a caring soul.

Guide to Bad Credit Loans

Posted in Loans Center on May 21st, 2009

Here is a useful guide to Bad Credit loans. Bad credit loans mean that you are taking out a loan that may depend on your credit history. Your credit history includes county court judgements, and defaults on repayments of previous loans or financial transactions. To the loan officer in your bank, this may mean that giving you a loan could be a risk because according to your history, you are more likely to have late or defaulted repayments.

However, some institutions may approve bad credit bank loan applications. Keep in mind that they may charge you a higher interest rate. If you have bad credit or poor credit history, you may have trouble convincing lenders to approve your loans.

You may increase the chances of getting approved by applying for a secured loan or by reducing your loan amount. Your credit history will be checked when you apply for a loan so lenders can assess your credit rating. This is one of the most important factors for them to consider when deciding whether to offer you a deal. If your loan application is accepted you will be given a sum of money, which you will usually have to pay back in monthly instalments over an agreed period of time.

Having a bad credit rating doesn’t mean you are a financial disaster, but missing payments on other loans against you is a guaranteed way onto the credit blacklist. Other unexpected events such as divorce, or redundancies could also have a negative affect. But even the most unlikely person could have a bad credit rating. You might be too young, or just may not have had any form of credit before.

What do you do if mainstream lenders don’t want your business? If this is the case and you need a loan you should concentrate on firms that offer bad credit loans. Some lenders specialise in this type of loan, which is designed for people other lenders may not want to deal with because of their poor credit history.

These lenders generally specialise in making bad credit loans that are substandard by normal banking criteria, and that the traditional banking community passes up because the borrowers’ previous credit is poor or there is not enough collateral.

Since these lenders make these substandard loans, financial regulators allow them to charge much higher interest rates than regular banks can charge.

Though these lenders make bad credit loans other lenders won’t touch, each has its own acceptable criteria. One major advantage of using alternative sources of capital is that they may make you a loan when no one else will. And, of course the drawback is that you will pay a very high interest rate for the privilege of borrowing.

Interest rates on bad credit loans can be higher than other personal loans because of the perceived risks to lenders, but they are a readily available alternative source of funding for people affected by poor credit ratings.

Banks may be more selective of their loan applicants. Since banks tend to be more cautious of their investments, they are less likely to offer loans to those with bad credit ratings. You might need to prove that you can repay the loan.

Republican and Democrat Come Together

Posted in Activist, Children + Parents, Schools + Schooling on May 18th, 2009

Last March 20, 2008, former Colorado Governor and Democrat party chairman Roy Romer and former Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman were guests at the breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Science Monitor in Washington, D.C. The two officials came together to support the bipartisan effort of educational reform in the previous 2008 elections. They both wanted this to play a bigger role in the presidential campaign of 2008.

Both Ken Mehlman and Roy Romer hold positions in the Board of the Strong American Schools. Ken Mehlman is a trustee while Romer is chairman of the Board. The nonprofit organization is a project sponsored by the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors that seeks to create more revolutionary education policies among all American schools.

Ken Mehlman and Romer attended the event to show that they want education to be the center stage of the 2008 elections. According to the former DNC chairman, the United States has made some advances in education, but it still cannot compare with the rapid advances happening in other parts of the world.

Ken Mehlman, however, said that one of the reasons why there is an American Dream is because at some point in their broad history, Americans made sure that there was “very broad, universal access to quality education.”

Both former chairmen issued statements about why Americans should focus their attention intensely on education. Reports reveal that only 70% of 1 million American students graduate four years after starting the ninth grade. This gives Mehlman and Romer more reason to focus their attention on American education standards.

Useful Tips on Getting a Suitable Bank that Can Meet the Business Banking Requirements of Your Organisation

Posted in Financing on May 15th, 2009

Finding a bank that can supply good business banking is key for the success of any business organisation whether big or little. Why? Because good business banking allows the money within a business to flow, and will greatly save time and money. Any small business owner who is unsure about where to start with business banking, should read the following tips to gain an understanding into what is involved.

The first step to take before you can begin open a business account is to find the right bank for your needs. Unless they have the soundest deal, it is usually not wise to use your existing bank for your business needs. This is because it is a good idea to keep your business and personal affairs entirely separate, and means that a single bank is not in control of all your money. There is also the fact that new banking clients often get better deals because of the banks being so keen to attract new business. Competition is intensive and this can work in your favour. Whatever bank you choose to use, it pays to shop around to get the best products for your banking.

Having selected a bank you should contact them to open an account for your business. This is in all likelihood the most important step, and there are a number of things you need to do before you can open a bank account. For Instance, prepare a business plan to email to the bank to show them where your business is headed. Additionally, if you are a new service then you will probably need to get evidence of your initial financial backing. It is common for your personal credit history and the history of any business partners to be scrutinised. When these conditions have been concluded then you will be in a position to open an business account.

The deal and the services offered will partly depend on the size of your business, as well as the results of your credit checks and the evaluation of your business plan. Starting with a simple account is often the prudent option, where you can take out money and pay in earnings. Once your business matures then you can add other features or apply for a business loan as and when you ask them

Family Time Can be Scrapbooking Time

Posted in Uncategorized on May 10th, 2009

Involving kids in scrapbooking is a wonderful way to spend family time together. Depending on the age of your kids, they can help you with your album or they can create albums of their own.

Step one is going through photos. Children love to look at pictures. Young children love to tell you who the person in the picture is. Older children love to tell the story of the photo or ask you to tell the story of the photo. Both of my kids always love to look at the photos my mom has, many are in black and white. They love to see the differences between life back then, and life today. Of course my mom enjoys sharing with my kids about life back then.

Again, depending on the age of your kids, they can help you choose the color of the paper used, the stickers you use, any lettering you use and can help design the overall layout of the page. When you open a scrapbook there is a page on the left and a page on the right. Often, my kids will each design one side. If you have all of the supplies organized, it’s very reasonable to be able to create several pages in one evening.

The adhesives I use are all zots, or precut small squares that are double sided. These adhesives are very simple to use. Even young kids can attach one side to the photo and then when ready peel off the other side and then press into the album. I am not an artist by any means. I also can not cut a straight line. One of the things my own children most love about the albums I’ve given to them is that every album has crooked pictures. We truly laugh until tears roll down our faces about how I can not even attach a photo straight onto a page. So, even if your young children do attach a photo a bit crooked, seeing the album, knowing you and child made it together will bring you great joy.

If your children are old enough to write, have them do some of the journaling. Help them write their story about the pictures they are putting into the album.

Scrapbook pages all should be in sheet protectors, so even small fingers can’t smudge photos. It really is a joy to watch young children take out the scrapbook album they helped to create and watch them tell their dolls or imaginary friends all of the stories behind the various photos.

Scrapbooking is multi generational, allowing young children and even great grandparents to participate in an activity together. One thing that always makes my own children giggle are the bathing suits my grandparents wore in one photo we have. My grandparents were both born in the late 1800’s and so the bathing suits were quite different from what we see today.

I was born in New York and so we have photos of me in a baby carriage in the snow. Living in California today, these photos are all of a different place and different time to my own children. They have so enjoyed my own mother telling them about life in New York. Since both of my children are older (driving age) and since we live in California, neither has ever driven in snow. Asking my mom about driving in the snow has provided conversation that would not have taken place if we didn’t have the photos and scrapbooks to talk about.

Scrapbooking and photos truly are a way to provide conversation, to bridge the gap between generations and to provide a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with your children.

Outrageous Tales About Chihuahuas: Some Are True!

Outrageous Tales About Chihuahuas: Some Are True!

By Bill Knell

When you look at a Chihuahua that weighs less than two pounds full grown, it is hard to imagine that it’s actually a dog! That is why so many people once believed the rumor that Chihuahuas were some kind of weird mix of rodent and dog. The rumor began after people who traveled along the Mexican Border with Texas and Arizona over one hundred and fifty years ago noticed the breed.

Early Wild West novels and storybooks explained the small size of the Chihuahua by claiming that the animals were created through a secret process used by medicine men or pagan priests in Mexico or South America. The process was said to have involved the mixing of small dogs and rodents. However, dime novels were not the only places where tale tales about Chihuahuas were spread.

Early descriptions of the dogs by Missionaries and Conquistadors traveling throughout South America indicated they were used in worship ceremonies or even eaten by faithful followers of the Aztec religion. Such descriptions were often exaggerated to make the Aztec People seem completely pagan to Christians and, thereby, justify their conquest and conversion. While we are certain that Chihuahuas were used in Aztec worship ceremonies, there is no evidence to date that any were eaten. Many have been found buried with people, so it’s possible they were killed to join their owners in death.

Because they are much smaller and seem to be so different from other dog breeds, a number of old wives tales exist about these tiny animals. Some are true, others are just myths spread by the uninformed:

BAD BREATH - Chihuahuas have a breath odor that is no better or worse then that of any other dog breed. This rumor started because so many early Chihuahua owners fed their dogs unwanted fish parts. Captains, mates and others who worked aboard ships in the California of the middle to late 1800’s found Chihuahua dogs to be terrific companions. Not only would these dogs sound the alarm if anyone came near their personal property, but they were small enough to be welcome aboard vessels of any size. Ship captains were particularly found of them because Chihuahuas had a knack for chasing rats out of small spaces that other dogs couldn’t reach. When pups came along and they were sold to landlubbers, new owners were told that the dogs just loved fish parts!

CHIHUAHUAS HAVE GIVEN BIRTH TO KITTENS - Chihuahuas tend to get along unusually well with Cats. In fact, Chihuahuas have been known to nurse orphaned or abandoned kittens. However, I can say with great certainty that no Chihuahua has ever been known to give birth to a litter of kittens.

CHIHUAHUAS COME FROM OUTTER SPACE - Some Natives of North and South America have traditions that indicate their ancestors may have come from the stars. Some researchers believe that’s an incorrect interpretation of the native people’s belief that their ancestors come from a higher spiritual existence. Either way, early scholars who took an interest in the origin of Chihuahuas indicated that they had not been able to discover how, when or where the breed originated. As interest in ghosts, Atlantis and space beings first became popular in the late 1800’s, many people adopted the idea that Chihuahuas must have been brought to Earth by visitors from beyond. Needless to say, this is probably not true and likely came from the same people who believe that Corn is an Alien invention unfit for human consumption.

CHIHUAHUAS CAN HEAL SEVERE INJURIES OR REDUCE PAIN - Early settlers who came to the Southwest United States noticed that Mexicans and some Natives would tie Chihuahuas to parts of their bodies that seemed to need healing or where pain was a problem. This practice lead to the theory that the dogs were magical and could cure an assortment of physical problems. In reality, Chihuahuas have been known to lie near or on parts of their owner’s bodies where pain was being felt, an infection had set in or other health problems may have existed. The warmth of their tiny bodies probably helped ease pain a bit. The licking of infections or open wounds may have helped clean out microorganisms or infected tissues. Interestingly enough, it has become known that some dogs seem to possess the ability to diagnose cancer or other health problems in various parts of the human body.

CHIHUAHUAS CAN CURE OR REDUCE THE SERVERITY OF ASTHMA AND ALLERGIES - Most people with Asthma or severe Allergy problems have a problem with pets. Not so, it seems, with the Chihuahua. Although there is no known medical evidence to support the idea that Chihuahuas can cure any disease, many Chihuahua Owners who suffer with Asthma or severe Allergies claim the dogs help. As recently as thirty years ago, people living in the Southwest would get a Chihuahua for a child or family member with Asthma or Allergy problems. The dogs would sometimes lie near that person’s mouth and become ill. At the same time, the person would seem to feel better. The idea was that the problem was transferred from the suffering human to the dog. While that’s obviously untrue, it is a fact that Asthma and Allergy sufferers seem to do better with short or long haired Chihuahuas the with any other dog breed.

CHIHUAHUAS COME FROM CHINA OR EGYPT - There is some evidence that Chihuahuas may have already existed in Africa and Asia before they were discovered in America, but none so conclusive to say that they originated in any of those places. We are just now discovering that seafarers may have visited our shores long before Columbus or even the Vikings. This may account for the presence of Chihuahuas in other parts of the world. No one really knows the exact origin of the Chihuahua.

IF REALLY UPSET, A CHIHUAHUA’S EYES WILL FALL OUT OF IT’S HEAD - The ‘bug eye’ look of some Chihuahuas undoubtedly lead to this myth. Modern science has shown this to be false.

SEWER RATS HAVE BEEN SOLD AS CHIHUAHUAS - This is yet another branch of the false rodent identity once attributed to Chihuahua dogs. Years ago, a story appeared in one of the supermarket tabloids proclaiming that a couple who visited Mexico was sold the hybrid of a rat-dog mix that looked like a Chihuahua. This lead to the often repeated and equally nonsensical story of a couple who vacationed in Mexico and brought home a sewer rat they bought as a Chihuahua.

AN ANCIENT CHIHUAHUA WAS DISCOVERED PERFECTLY PRESERVED IN A SOUTH AMERICAN PYRAMID - Another crazy story courtesy of our friends at the supermarket tabloids. This one appeared in an early 1970’s tabloid article and claimed that the dog’s flesh was still edible, blood samples could be extracted from the dog’s body and the animal’s eyes were a color never before seen in animals(???). Well, they made it up, not me!

The craziest thing about all the tale tales that surround the Chihuahua Breed is that some may actually be true. The Chihuahua is the world’s smallest dog breed and longest-lived. Animal Behaviorists tell us that Chihuahuas are the only dogs that tend to prefer the company of humans to that of other dogs. They will nurse kittens and have helped people who suffer from various maladies. With a background like that, I suppose almost anything is possible. However, one thing is for sure. They make the world’s best pets!

Algebra as a Scientific Study

Algebra scientific discipline is the branch of mathematics that is interested in the study of structure, relation, and quantity. Algebra addresses working with numbers, symbols, sets of elements and also vectors as in linear algebra. You can count on algebra as one of the most operative branches of mathematics, if not the most authoritative. Algebra includes categories such as Linear algebra, Universal algebra and Algebraic geometry.

Require Assistance in Studying Algebra?

Many software applications have come to the market in hope of helping students to develop the ability at solving algebraic problems . These software cover nearly all algebraic topics such as working around and graphing different cases of radical equations, formulas and non-linear inequalities. Such equations like quadratic, simultaneous, exponential, radical and linear equations will be simply, quickly and efficiently solved using these software applications. These applications most likely will contain an algebraic tutorial and a wizard too; Moreover, algebra calculators facilitate a lot of algebraic processes for students of that field of mathematics.

The Big Picture on Algebra

Some students forever wonder why we learn algebra; they think it has no direct benefit. Well, if we were to talk about algebra benefits, then it has both direct and indirect benefits, which I think, algebra students should be educated on. The indirect benefit of studying algebra could be abstracted in working the learning ability in an well-conducted pattern. As for the direct benefit, algebra has a mass of uses in different scientific disciplines and industries.

Actually, algebra applications cover a lot of real life aspects such as in industries etc, for instance in robotics research or rocket science. It is also used, in various science researches like physics, quantum mechanics, Informatics and even in the military; one such aspects which will be considered briefly in this article is the algebra applications in programming.

Algebra in Programming

Comparative algebra concepts were the rudimentary steps for the relational database concept. Also, simple algebra was used in modeling of complex XML models and constructing XML database management systems. Furthermore, programming languages have been developed for solving algebraic expressions and formulas, like RPL which stands for ROM-based Procedural Language or ALF-Algebraic Logic Functional programming language. Many other higher programming languages developed for the intent of solving algebraic problems as AML-Algebraic Modeling Language, where this language describes the complicated problem, such as compound optimization problems, then calls certain external algorithms to solve the problem.

Virgin’s West Coast Main Line to Get Mobile Broadband Connectivity

Posted in Buyers + Consumers, IT + More, World Of Telecommunication on May 7th, 2009

If you often travel on one of Virgin’s 52 Pendolino trains, you can soon expect a mobile broadband service to be available while commuting, using WiFi hotspots.

The service would be made available by T-Mobile, and operated on Virgin’s West Coast Main Line, which passes through the West Midlands and the North West in its journey between London and Southern Scotland. Every year around 22.5 million passengers travel by the West Coast Main Line. 21 of the Super Voyager trains would also be enabled with the new service by mid summer.

Richard Warmsley, the head of internet and entertainment for T-Mobile UK said that the company wants to meet the growing demand for mobile broadband (click for info on best mobile broadband) and is constantly looking for innovative ways to achieve that. This plan helps in that direction and the service can be availed of by the company’s regular costumers while others can also benefit from it irrespective of the mobile network they use, he said.

T-Mobile has joined hands with Nomad Digital to make this venture possible. This association had earlier introduced the broadband WiFi experience on board the train operating between London and Brighton, and on the Heathrow express trains. Nomad Digital has been instrumental in providing data communication to the transportation industry for a long time now.

The new service will be free for T-Mobile’s ‘pay monthly’ consumers, who already have unlimited WiFi in their broadband package, and first class passengers of the train. Other commuters on the train who wish to access the service need to purchase HotSpot passes using their WiFi enabled device.
